UOB Updates Visa Infinite Overseas Spending Rewards

UOB has updated the overseas spending rewards for its UOB Visa Infinite credit card, increasing the rewards from 8 UniRinggit per Ringgit spent to 10 UniRinggit per Ringgit spent. This change boosts the earning rate from 0.94 miles per Ringgit on overseas spending to 1.18 miles per Ringgit. With an annual income requirement of over 120,000 Ringgit, this affluent card from UOB remains one of the top rewarding credit cards for overseas spending.

These changes make the UOB Visa Infinite credit card’s rewards more competitive compared to other credit cards in the market. According to DuitHub’s credit card explorer, the UOB Visa Infinite credit card now surpasses the UOB Prvi Miles Elite credit card in overseas rewards (1.18 miles per Ringgit vs. 1.11 miles per Ringgit). Currently, the CIMB Travel World Elite credit card remains the most rewarding card for overseas spending with 1.25 miles per Ringgit, but the UOB Visa Infinite credit card is close behind.

This update reignites the comparison between the UOB Visa Infinite credit card and the UOB Prvi Miles Elite card, highlighting the ongoing battle between Visa and Mastercard for the top credit card at UOB. In addition to overseas spending, the UOB Visa Infinite credit card also slightly outperforms the UOB Prvi Miles Elite credit card in local spending rewards (0.59 vs. 0.56 miles per Ringgit). Although the UOB Visa Infinite appears to offer better rewards, this is partly because it converts 8,500 UniRinggit to 1,000 AirAsia Big Miles, whereas the UOB Prvi Miles Elite card requires 9,000 UniRinggit for the same 1,000 AirAsia Big Miles.

In other travel benefits, the UOB Visa Infinite may have the edge, particularly in airport lounge access. It offers 12 Dragonpass access times per year, compared to only 8 access times per year to Plaza Premium Lounge with the UOB Prvi Miles Elite card. Additionally, the travel insurance coverage is RM500,000 for the UOB Visa Infinite versus RM300,000 for the UOB Prvi Miles Elite. Both cards offer decent airport transfer benefits; the UOB Prvi Miles Elite provides unlimited rides to the airport, while the UOB Visa Infinite offers 12 airport transfers per year, both subject to spending requirements.
